During a briefing, US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said that the United States has not changed its position on strikes against Russia after Ukraine received F-16 fighters, Voice of America reports.
Earlier, the United States partially allowed the Ukrainian government to strike military targets in Russia using American weapons. Any further expansion of authorizations will depend on the situation on the battlefield, Miller explained.
“My answer has not changed, which is that we continue to look at the needs of the Ukrainian military, assess the security situation, and try to respond to their needs. And this is a process that has been going on from the very beginning to this day. So we make appropriate decisions on the weapons that we provide to Ukraine, as well as on the restrictions, if any, that we impose on the use of these weapons,” Miller commented on the likelihood of expanding authorizations for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

At the same time, the State Department spokesman did not give a clear answer regarding expanding the capabilities of partners, including NATO countries, to shoot down Russian missiles over Ukraine.
“This is a decision that NATO members must make collectively. This is not something I can comment on from my position,” Miller said.
