Zelensky signed a law significantly increasing the threshold for criminal liability for petty thefts

Now for thefts up to 3028 hryvnias there will be only administrative liability.

signed law No. 11068, which increases the threshold for criminal liability for petty theft by 10 times – from UAH 302.8 to UAH 3,028.

This is evidenced by the data in the bill card on the Verkhovna Rada website.

Theft of up to UAH 757 entails a fine of UAH 850 to 1,700, community service for a period of 20 to 30 hours, or administrative arrest for up to 5 days.

Theft from UAH 758 to UAH 3,028 hryvnia – a fine of 1,700 to 5,100 hryvnia, community service for 30 to 40 hours, correctional labor for up to 1 month minus 20% of earnings, or administrative arrest for 5 to 10 days.

Repeated petty theft within a year – a fine of 8,500 to 17,000 hryvnia, community service for 40 to 60 hours, correctional labor for 1 to 2 months minus 20% of earnings, or administrative arrest for 10 to 15 days.

< Petty theft three or more times within a year – a fine of 600 to 1,000 non-taxable minimums or administrative arrest for 15 days.
