The cleric is free on bail with the duties assigned to him.
Lawyer for Metropolitan Pavel (Lebed) of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate Nikita Chekman told Ukrinform that the court extended the pre-trial detention.
The cleric, who received the nickname “Pasha-Mercedes” from society because of his love for the rich life, will be forced to fulfill the duties imposed on him by Themis for another 2 months: not to leave his place of residence, not to contact witnesses and victims in the criminal case, and to appear at the first request of the court for the hearing, the next of which will take place in September.
The court still believes that the accused can comply with the requirements of the law without using an electronic bracelet. According to the lawyer, he is currently undergoing inpatient treatment due to deteriorating health.
- Two criminal cases have been opened against the former rector of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra: for justifying aggression and violating the principle of equality of citizens.
