The Defense Secretary spoke with a bipartisan delegation from the US Congress.
Rustem Umerov, together with American congressmen, announced the goal of the operation that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are conducting in the Kursk region.
As the official noted on his Telegram page, he thanked Democrat David Trone and Republican Robert Wittman for their support of Ukraine and told them about the current situation on the front.
According to Umerov, “our goals in the territories adjacent to the Sumy region are to clear the border area of military threats and make enemy shelling and attacks on cities and villages impossible.”
The minister asked the American lawmakers to help obtain quick permission for the military to use long-range weapons on targets in Russia.
