Today, August 24, the Defense Forces conducted the first use of the Ukrainian drone missile “Palyanitsa”. This was announced by President Volodymyr Zelensky during the celebrations on the occasion of Independence Day.

“Palyanitsa” was successfully used against the occupiers in the captured territory, Minister for Strategic Industry Alexander Kamyshin reported on Telegram. This is a new class of weapon.

On the morning of August 24, Russian occupiers attacked the left-bank part of the city of Konstantinovka in the Donetsk region. There are casualties and wounded, said Vadim Filashkin, head of the Donetsk OVA.

“The Russians struck the city again this morning – they hit the Left Bank,” the report said. At first, there was information about five dead and five wounded.

Later, Filashkin reported that the Russians wounded six people.

On August 24, Independence Day, Ukraine managed to return home 115 soldiers from Russian captivity. Soldiers of the National Guard, the Armed Forces, the Navy, and the State Border Service returned to Ukrainian soil, President Volodymyr Zelensky reported.

The GUR also specified that nine illegally convicted defenders were released. Naval sailors and three border guards were released, as well as 82 defenders of Mariupol (of which fifty defended “Azovstal”).

All those rescued this time are soldiers, sergeants and sailors. Also returning home are six National Guardsmen from the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant garrison, servicemen who defended the Kyiv, Donetsk, Kherson and Lugansk regions. Also among those discharged are the defenders of Gostomel, the reserve command post of the General Staff in the Kyiv region, and the Chongar checkpoint.

Today, the Russians announced that they had received back 115 conscripts who had surrendered in the Kursk region.

On Independence Day, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrsky, awarded Ukrainian defenders for their active actions in the Kursk direction.

“Today, on Independence Day, I awarded our brave defenders for their active actions in the Kursk direction. Thanks to you, thousands of lives of civilians have been saved” in the border areas,” the Commander-in-Chief said in a message on social networks.

General Oleksandr Syrsky thanked the soldiers for their courage and devotion to the Ukrainian people.
