The counterfeit was buried in a car that was being transported from Poland to Ukraine.
Employees of the Carpathian detachment of the State Border Service of Ukraine, along with counterfeit cash in the amount of 54 thousand dollars.
As noted by the State Border Service of Ukraine on its website, the counterfeit money was discovered during a search of a Toyota car transported from Poland to Ukraine along the Shehyni-Lviv highway. The car was placed on a gun carriage that was towing a minibus. In the passenger compartment, in the plastic panel near the gearbox, law enforcement officers found bags of counterfeit bills.
The criminals' work cannot be called professional: the bills felt like regular paper, the printing was of poor quality, and the serial numbers were duplicated or unclear.
Based on the evidence received, an investigation was launched under Article 199 of the Criminal Code: “Manufacturing, storage, import or sale of counterfeit money.” Law enforcement officers are identifying the circle of persons involved in the crime.
