The Supreme Court of Russia upheld the current sentence of four participants in the case of the “Alushta group” ” Hizb ut-Tahrir.

Crimean Solidarity reports this with reference to lawyer Emil Kurbedinov.

During the hearing, Eldar Kantimirov, Lenur Khalilov, Ruslan Mesutov and Ruslan Nagaev said they wanted to communicate in their native Crimean Tatar language and asked to assign a translator.

However, the court refused this, citing the fact that all four political prisoners “lived in Russia, studied in schools where Russian was taught,” therefore, they have sufficient knowledge of Russian.

As a result, the court did not satisfy any of the defense's arguments and upheld the sentence, and also rejected the appeals against the decision of the appellate court.
