Currently, out of about 5 thousand locals, about 200 civilians remain in the city. They are being helped by the Ukrainian military.
Despite the fact that Sudzha is in the rear, the Russians are wiping it off the face of the earth: they accuse it of guided aerial bombs (KABs), shell it with artillery and kamikaze drones. This is reported by the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
On Friday, August 30, a Russian KAB hit a local kindergarten, and enemy aircraft struck houses in the private sector in Sudzha.
Of the approximately 5,000 locals, about 200 civilians remain in the city, who, according to the norms of international humanitarian law, are being helped by the Ukrainian military.
The overwhelming majority of the survivors are people of retirement age. As one, they say in Russian that “the authorities did not warn us about anything: they abandoned us here, and that's all.”
Recently, representatives of the new Ukrainian military commandant's office established a water supply in Sudzha so that the local population had access to drinking water. Previously, thanks to the Ukrainian military, this problem was solved with the help of water carriers and trucks with multi-cubic-meter tanks.
Medical assistance to civilians in Sudzha is also provided by Ukrainian military: at the medical stations, in the “keysevaks” and everywhere where there are wounded and sick.
