Budapest adheres to the principle “this is not our war”.
An adviser to the Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor says that Kamala Harris's victory in the US presidential election will not change the country's attitude towards geopolitical issues.
As European Pravda writes, Budapest considers its approach to the situation in Ukraine “realistic” and is ready to adhere to it even in the face of criticism from other countries of the European Union. It is described in simple words – “this is not our war”. The government speculates that 80-90% of Hungarians agree with this statement.
Viktor Orban's associates are convinced that the new administration in Washington will in any case seek rapprochement with Russia, “so as not to push it into China.” Hungary seeks to be part of future US-Russian agreements.
- Earlier, the Orban government openly supported Donald Trump in the US presidential election: the prime minister called the Republican “the only chance for peace in Ukraine.”
