Starlink began blocking access to social media X in Brazil. Before this, the company stated that it was not profitable.
RBC-Ukraine reported this via Reuters.
It is reported that the Starlink company, which provides satellite broadband services to billionaire Elon Musk, recently announced that it will reconcile the ruling of the Supreme Court of Brazil to block access to social media X in the country. It happened a day after she informed the country’s regulatory body about those that were not violating this regulation.
Reuters writes that Starlink has become a new battlefield between Musk and Brazil. The bottom line is that the High Court of Justice, Alexander de Moraes, ordered the freezing of the company's assets so that, perhaps, they could be used to pay the fines due to Company X, which also owed Musk.
“Unregardless of the illegal activities of Starlink, due to the freezing of our assets, we are issuing an order to block access to X in Brazil,” according to the reported Starlink company, which may have over 200,000 clients This Latin American country.
As the agency notes, on Monday the Brazilian telecommunications regulator Anatel announced that Starlink had informed it of its decision not to defy the order of the Moraes court. The resolution required all Internet providers to block access to social media X in the country.
An Anatel representative told Reuters that Starlink had changed its decision. On Tuesday, the company informed the regulator that it would complete the blocking for several years.
Anatel has now confirmed that Starlink has already begun to enable access to X in Brazil.
It seems likely that X is blocked in Brazil since last year. This happened after Moraes ordered all communication operators in the country to connect to the social media platform through the presence of a legal representative in the country.
