The Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets reported on his Facebook page an increase in the number of complaints about the actions of the TCC in the Zakarpattia region received by his office.

The Ombudsman cited an example of a high-profile case in which a woman accuses employees of the territorial recruitment center of illegally detaining and beating her father. The man died as a result of his injuries.

According to Lubinets, information about a criminal offense under Article 128 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – “Negligent or moderate bodily injury” – was entered into the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations.

The Ombudsman assured that he had sent a request to the Prosecutor General about this incident. If the violation is confirmed, Lubinets will demand that officials be held accountable “regardless of their titles, ranks, and positions held.”
