The ministry noted that Lukashenko’s actions will have negative consequences for relations between the two states.

meeting of Alexander Lukashenko and Denis Pushilin

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine condemned the meeting of self-proclaimed President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko with the representative of the occupation authorities of Donetsk, Gauleiter Denis Pushilin. On the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, this meeting is “yet another confirmation that the position of the current Belarusian government on the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine is dictated exclusively by the instructions of the Kremlin and has nothing to do with either international law or the international obligations of the Republic of Belarus.”

“Ukraine rejects the hypocritical rhetoric of Alexander Lukashenko regarding the “principles” of cooperation with the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine and considers it further evidence of support for the war of conquest against our state,” the ministry emphasized.

The Ukrainian department appealed to the Belarusian people with a call “to realize that, against the backdrop of repeated contacts between Belarusian officials and Russian puppets from our temporarily occupied territories, Alexander Lukashenko's constant statements about his “warm feelings” for the “brotherly Ukrainian people” sound like a mockery, and his practical actions are destroying the friendship and mutual respect on which relations between the Ukrainian and Belarusian peoples were built.”

The Foreign Ministry also stated that Lukashenko's actions cannot go unanswered and will have negative consequences for relations between the two states.
