The US plans to announce more than $8 billion during Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's visit to Washington.

This was reported by Reuters, citing two US officials.

It is noted that the Joe Biden administration is holding urgent talks with Congress to allow it to use $5.6 billion in military aid to Ukraine before September 30.

US officials said that the White House intends to notify Congress that it will continue to work on announcing the withdrawal of $5.6 billion in weapons from US military stockpiles.

However, according to officials, the contents of this package are still changing.

Another announcement scheduled for Thursday will be for $2.4 billion in aid under the Ukraine Security Assistance Program, a program that allows the administration to buy weapons for Ukraine from companies rather than taking them from U.S. stockpiles.

The aid will include ammunition, counter-drone weapons and materials to support the production of ammunition in Ukraine, a U.S. official said.

The U.S. is also scheduled to announce a $375 million aid package that will include the first delivery of a precision-guided glide bomb with a range of up to 81 miles (130 kilometers), called the Joint Standoff Weapon.

Details of the weapons were not expected to be made public.

The package is also expected to include patrol boats, additional ammunition for the High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS), 155mm and 105mm artillery rounds, spare parts and other weapons, U.S. officials said.
