The United States on Thursday announced significant defense support totaling $7.9 billion for Ukraine and the introduction of sanctions against Russia aimed at further limiting its ability to finance aggression.

This was announced by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. He thanked American President Joe Biden, Congress and both of its parties, and the entire American people for this decision. President Zelensky called the United States his closest ally and expressed gratitude for finding a way to allocate the remainder of the aid to Ukraine. The corresponding message was published in Zelensky's Telegram.

“I am grateful to the United States for providing critical means to protect our people. An additional Patriot air defense battery, other air defense assets and interceptors, drones, long-range missiles and air-to-surface munitions, and assets to strengthen Ukraine's defense industrial base,” the president said.
