NATO responded to both reports, saying the information provided by The Times and Reuters was “deeply concerning and allies are consulting on it.”
“China has been a decisive factor in Russia’s war in Ukraine through its provision of dual-use technology to support Russia’s defence industry. The Chinese government has a responsibility to ensure that its companies do not provide lethal weapons support to Russia. China cannot continue to fuel Europe’s worst conflict since World War II without damaging its interests and reputation,” the spokeswoman added.
Jens Stoltenberg has previously said China supplies components, microelectronics and microprocessors that Russia uses to build missiles and bombs used in Ukraine. However, Stoltenberg and other leaders have not previously accused Beijing of supplying weapons to Ukraine.
