US State Department: Ukraine “does not need permission to strike Russia”

But if we are talking only about weapons of our own production.

The State Department is free to strike Russian territory without permission from Washington, since it can use its own weapons for this.

As the Voice of America writes, State Department spokesman Matthew Miller noted that “thanks to the programs implemented over the past year, Ukraine has a lot of its own weapons.” He also recalled that the United States had authorized the use of weapons provided as part of the support to strike in response at targets located in the border region of the Russian Federation.

However, when asked directly by journalists why the White House did not want to lift restrictions on the use of American weapons deep into the territory of the aggressor country, the speaker did not give a clear answer. According to Miller, “the United States is considering all possibilities, all tactics and all support from the point of view of how this will affect the battlefield and the entire strategy of Ukraine.”
