Police block international channel for smuggling men from Ukraine to EU

Members of the criminal group received $10,000 for each illegal immigrant.

The National Police blocked an international channel for transporting men from Ukraine to the country scheme for transporting men of draft age from Ukraine to the countries of the European Union.

 

This was reported by the press service of the National Police.

Ukrainian police have established the location of the organizer of the criminal group, who coordinated the actions of accomplices from the United States in cooperation with the Department investigations of the US Department of Homeland Security.

Another co-organizer was detained in the Zakarpattia region during the transportation of another group of illegal immigrants.

“Law enforcement officers established that the members of the criminal group were involved in the illegal transportation of about 40 people abroad; they valued their criminal services at $10,000 per person,” the National Police said.

The suspects created a closed channel in Telegram, where they offered their services and instructed clients.

Those wishing to illegally flee Ukraine paid an advance, after which they had to get to Lviv. From there, they were transported along mountain roads to Zakarpattia, where they were hidden and illegally transported to Romania.

The organizers of the criminal scheme were notified of suspicion under Art. 332 (Illegal transportation of persons across the state border of Ukraine), one of them is under arrest.

Measures are ongoing to identify other members of the criminal group and detain them. The perpetrators face imprisonment for up to 9 years with confiscation of property.
