Citizens of the neighboring country raised 4 million euros for this initiative.
A batch of ammunition, which was purchased through donations from 70 thousand citizens of Slovakia for a total of 4 million euros, arrived in Ukraine.
As reported by “European Pravda” Thanks to the caring people from the neighboring country, Ukrainian defenders received 122 tons of the necessary shells.
The entire process from the announcement of the purchase to the shipment of the cargo took about 4-5 months. Fedor Blashchak, a representative of the company “Ammunition for Ukraine”, claims that the time only seems long – in fact, this is almost a record period. The reason is that literally every piece of ammunition had to be checked for compliance and generally a lot of paperwork had to be done.
This is not the end of the Slovak aid: another 500 thousand euros collected for Ukraine will be converted into grenade launcher rounds. These deliveries are expected before the end of the year.
- Slovaks began raising funds for Ukraine when their government announced that it would not participate in the Czech initiative to provide ammunition for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
- When the amount raised reached 4 million euros, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico ridiculed the efforts of his compatriots, calling them “a drop in the ocean.”
