The Pechersk District Court of Kyiv chose a preventive measure for leaving his place of service without permission. This was reported by “Obshchestvennoye”.

The fighter was sent to custody for 60 days. He said that he would go on a hunger strike if the Defense Ministry did not draft a bill on demobilization.

Gnezdelov expressed confidence that he would be convicted and said that the laws regarding military personnel in Ukraine are discriminatory.

“Service is the duty of every citizen, and defense is the duty of every citizen of our country, but without clear deadlines, this turns into serfdom,” he said.

A serviceman of the 56th Brigade, Sergei Gnezdelov, began his service back in 2019. In September of this year, he publicly announced that he was leaving the unit without permission. He justified his decision by the lack of clear terms of service. The brigade, commenting on Sergei's decision, called this step a crime. It is known that the soldier was supposed to undergo a medical examination in one of the eastern cities, but at the same time he went to Kyiv.

This week, on Wednesday, Gnezdelov was detained. According to law enforcement, he was hiding and repeatedly changed his location. Gnezdilov himself said in a comment to the Times on Tuesday that he was in the Carpathians.

Law enforcement classified the soldier's actions as desertion, which carries a punishment of up to 12 years in prison.
