Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, as of September 2024, Russia has caused environmental damage to Ukraine in the amount of more than 2.6 trillion hryvnia.

This was reported by the Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Svitlana Grinchuk in an interview with Ukrinform.

As Grinchuk added, fires are recorded daily on hundreds of hectares of forests. At the same time, it is impossible to use traditional means to extinguish these fires due to mining. The number of mined forests is estimated at 0.5 million hectares, and the estimated damage to the nature reserve fund of Ukraine is almost 650 billion hryvnia.
