2 Writer 2 volunteered for the front, resigning from the Armed Forces.
He spoke about this in a comment to “Glavkom”.
Aseyev cited the disbandment of the battalion he served in due to losses as the reason for this decision. The remaining people will be transferred to various units within the brigade in which the journalist served.
Aseyev also said that he tried to transfer to the Main Intelligence Directorate.
“I tried to transfer to the GUR. Mr. Budanov (Kirill Budanov, head of the GUR, – ed.) wrote a letter to the commander of the Territorial Defense Forces (the commander of the TDF is Major General Igor Plakhuta, – ed.), so that they would send me (to the GUR). But the letter was most likely simply thrown in the trash and I was not transferred anywhere,” he said.
Aseyev noted that after leaving the Armed Forces of Ukraine he will focus on social activities.
As is known, military personnel released from captivity can resign from service. This is implied by Article 26 of the Law “On Military Duty and Military Service”, the amendments to which came into force on May 18, 2024.
