A former police officer suspected of aiming Russian Iskander missiles at Groza has been sentenced to treason in absentia.

<p>A former police officer who defected to Russia during the occupation of the Kharkiv region and is also a suspect in aiming Iskander missiles at the village of Groza has been sentenced in absentia to 15 years in prison.</p>
<p>This was reported by the Kharkiv regional prosecutor's office.</p>
<p>According to the prosecutor's office, the court found the former police officer guilty of treason. He was sentenced to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property and deprivation of the right to hold positions related to the performance of state functions in law enforcement agencies for a period of 3 years.</p>
<p>It is known that the convicted person worked in the police during the occupation of the Chkalovskaya settlement territorial community and voluntarily collaborated with the Russians. The occupiers gave him a firearm and a car marked “Z”.</p>
<p>The traitor tried to “form” a team, agitating his former colleagues to cooperate with the enemy. </p>
<p>In addition, the defendant showed the Russian military the best tactical and strategic locations for enemy artillery and other equipment in the area in order to prevent the advance of the Ukrainian military. He even worked with the Russian military and the “L/DPR” militants at checkpoints, and on his free days he brought food, water and cigarettes to the occupiers. the infidels' body in the village of Shevchenkovo ​​in the Kupyansk district. The “chairman” controlled the activities of the department, detained local residents and personally interrogated them. And he continued to work at checkpoints. </p>
<p>The guilty verdict was handed down by the Kyiv District Court of Poltava. The period for filing an appeal is running. The traitor has been dismissed from the ranks of the National Police of Ukraine. </p>
<p>Since the convicted person is currently hiding from Ukrainian justice on the territory of the Russian Federation, the term of serving his sentence will begin to be calculated from the moment of his actual detention. While he evades serving the sentence imposed by the court sentence, the statute of limitations is suspended. </p>
<p>The convicted person and his brother are also suspected of aiming a missile at a cafe in the village. Thunderstorms are possible. They are charged with committing criminal offenses under Part 2 of Article 28, Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (high treason in the form of providing assistance to a foreign state in carrying out explosive activities against Ukraine, committed under martial law by prior conspiracy by a group of persons), Part 5 of Article 27, Part 2 of Article 28, Part 2 of Article. 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violation of the laws and customs of war, coupled with premeditated murder and committed by prior conspiracy by a group of persons). </p>
<p>The investigation is ongoing.</p>
