A law enforcement officer who transported conscripts abroad was detained in Odessa

The suspect has been remanded in custody with the right to post bail.

$7.5 thousand detained in Odessa for organizing the escape of conscripts to Moldova.

This was reported by the Kharkiv regional prosecutor's office. “Under the procedural guidance of the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor's Office, a citizen was notified of suspicion of organizing the illegal transfer of persons across the state border of Ukraine, committed for mercenary motives (Part 3 of Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine),” the report says. According to the investigation, a law enforcement officer from Kharkiv developed a “scheme” for the escape of men abroad for 7,500 US dollars. To implement the “plan”, he bought train tickets to Odessa, booked a hotel, and then, after providing instructions and recommendations, his “client” was supposed to cross the state border of Ukraine on foot in the direction of the Republic of Moldova. “The law enforcement officer went to Odessa together with the hijacker, emphasizing that he would take with him documents allowing him to move freely throughout the territory of Ukraine,” the prosecutor's office adds. Before the trip, the suspect said that it was imperative to immediately transfer $2 thousand as an “advance”. “On November 16, 2024, the businessman, together with another “client”, checked into a hotel in Odessa, where he received the second “tranche” in the amount of $5,500. Law enforcement officers detained the defendant in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.

The court granted the prosecution's motion: the suspect was given a preventive measure in the form of detention with the right to post bail in the amount of UAH 484,480 for a period of 60 days.

Other persons involved in the commission of this crime are being identified.
