According to the SBU, in 2014 a resident of Crimea voluntarily went over to the side of the occupiers and headed the energy company “Energy of Donbass” – managed energy enterprises in the temporarily occupied territory of the Donetsk region.
Since September 2023, when the man became the “coal” minister, on his instructions, the occupiers continue to export Ukrainian coal. on an industrial scale to Russia, the department clarified. He also signed an agreement with a Russian company to lease five profitable coal mines, the SBU noted.
“According to operational information, the Russians are going to destroy the mines and take the equipment to the territory of the occupying country. During his tenure in office, the “minister” has been actively imposing pro-Kremlin views on residents of the occupied Donbass and popularizing the occupation authorities,” the department noted.
Security Service investigators notified the man in absentia of suspicion of collaboration activities (Part 5 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The suspect is currently in the temporarily occupied territory of eastern Ukraine.
