UN: 12,000 Ukrainian civilians killed in Russian invasion

The real figures may be much higher than the official statistics.

During a meeting on Monday, the United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs Rosemary DiCarlo released official data on civilian casualties in the Russian-Ukrainian war.

According to Ukrinform, the killing of 12,164 Ukrainian civilians by Russians has been confirmed, including more than 600 children. More than 26,800 people were injured.

The UN emphasizes that these figures reflect only official statistics, but the real number of victims could be much higher.

The killings of civilians, as the official noted, began to increase in the last few months, when the Russians began to carry out even larger-scale attacks using missiles and drones than before.

More than 4 million people are internally displaced, and almost 7 million have left Ukraine because of the war. 580 medical institutions and 1,358 educational institutions have been damaged or destroyed.
