Merkel complains she has been “made a scapegoat” for the war in Ukraine

The former chancellor does not believe that he is guilty of condoning the aggressor.

Former German government secretary Angela Merkel said in an interview with Spiegel that she was “made a scapegoat” because of her position at the NATO summit in 2008, when the chancellor opposed granting our country a Membership Action Plan.

Merkel believes that she cannot be blamed for the fact that Russian dictator Putin started the war in Ukraine. >

Merkel claims that she tried to resolve conflicts with Russia peacefully. The ex-chancellor also made a statement in the style of Kremlin propaganda, saying that the West should ask itself about the correctness of its actions – supposedly, in 2000, having come to power, “Putin did not plan to attack Ukraine.” >

As for economic dependence on Russian hydrocarbons, the policy did not see its task as “providing Germany with cheap energy resources,” and also pointed out that “Poland and Ukraine were not against transit, because they received good money for it.”
