President Volodymyr Zelensky is confident that Putin has set the task for the Russian military command to oust the Ukrainian Defense Forces from the territory of the Kursk region of the Russian Federation by January 20, 2025.
The head of state spoke about this during the III International Conference on Food Security Grain From Ukraine, Obshchestvennoye and Ukrinform write.
“I am sure that he (Putin – ed.) wants to push us out (from Kursk region – ed.) before January 20. It is very important for him to demonstrate that he is in control of the situation. But he is not in control of the situation. The Kursk operation is not a game. “We have shown that he is not capable of fully defending his state. He has thrown everything into the occupation and destruction of Ukraine,” Zelensky said. The head of Ukraine emphasized that Putin wants to show that he will fulfill the task of the so-called “special military operation”, that is, he will occupy the entire Donbas and he needs to “squeeze” Ukrainian troops out of the Kursk direction. These are his two goals.
He added that the Russian army is suffering heavy losses in the Kursk direction.
“He (we are talking about Putin – ed.) has never had such losses. We have one of the interceptions in the Kursk direction that he transmits personal requests through the command that the entire fate of the “SVO” rests on the Kursk operation,” Zelensky said.
At the same time, the president noted that the most difficult situation is now in the east of Ukraine.
- According to a source at LB.ua, the Kursk operation allowed 60,000 Russian troops to be diverted from the front line. The Russians have already lost 25,000 troops there, killed and wounded.
- The enemy planned an offensive on Zaporozhye in late October – early November, concentrated significant forces in this direction, but was forced to abandon these plans and transfer troops to the Kursk region.
- On August 6 of this year, Russia announced a border breach in the Kursk region. At first, it claimed that the attempt had failed and that its FSB had contained the operation, but even its pro-war bloggers reported a loss of control. The head of the Center for Countering Disinformation, Andrei Kovalenko, said that day that the Russians' claims about border control in the Kursk region were untrue. This was the first and only comment by a Ukrainian official on this topic.
- On August 7, the Russians reported that fighting was continuing. Evacuation was announced from some settlements. No one denied the fact of the border breach, including Vladimir Putin, who urgently convened the government and, according to Russian media, the security council.
- According to Deep State, Russia had already lost several settlements on the first day of the deal.
- This month, Vladimir Zelensky reported that the Defense Forces are holding back a fairly significant group of Russian troops – 50 thousand personnel of the occupying army, who, thanks to the Kursk operation, cannot be sent to other directions of Russian attacks on our territory.
- The Russian Federation has also pulled troops from the DPRK there.
