In December, 6,500 UAH will be allocated for children of displaced persons and poor families

In addition, on St. Nicholas Day, orphans and children deprived of parental care who are raised in families of guardians or trustees will receive an additional one-time payment of one thousand hryvnia for each child.

Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said that the government has taken the first steps to implement a comprehensive package of “Winter Support” for Ukrainian families and continues to add new programs and initiatives.

He said this on November 26 during a Cabinet meeting. .

He noted that one of the priority areas is the protection of Ukrainian children, who should receive the safest, most comfortable and favorable conditions for life, education and development. The children's component of “Winter Support” includes a number of items.

Among them is the “Warm Winter” program: a one-time cash assistance for children to get through the winter period. During December, each low-income family, as well as IDP families who have children or adults with disabilities of the 1st group, will receive 6,500 UAH for each child. These funds will be used to buy children warm clothes, shoes and other things that are needed in the winter.

Today, a corresponding resolution was adopted, giving the start to this program.

In addition, as Shmyhal reported, by St. Nicholas Day, orphans and children deprived of parental care, brought up in families of guardians or trustees, will receive an additional one-time payment of one thousand hryvnias for each child.

The corresponding initiative will be implemented within the framework of “Winter Support”. UNICEF provides financial resources for this program.

“We also continue to reform the system of care and support for children in Ukraine. To this end, today we adopted the Strategy for Ensuring the Right of Every Child to Grow Up in a Family Environment and a Plan of Measures for its Implementation,” Shmyhal reported.

He noted that the main goals of the Strategy are comprehensive support for biological families so that children do not end up in care institutions. This is inclusive education, quality medicine, effective social services, community support, etc.

The Strategy is designed until 2028, and its implementation is already beginning. The responsible ministries and departments will be involved in this.

Earlier, the Ministry of Economy explained how to receive 1,000 hryvnias of “winter support”. This is a one-time payment that will be available to citizens in Ukraine, in particular children.
