He assures that modern fortifications are significantly improved compared to those built earlier.
Chief of the Zaporizhia OVA Ivan Fedorov said on the air of the telethon that construction of modern fortifications continues in Zaporizhia, local authorities together with the General Staff have developed a new defense system for the region, Ukrinform reports.
He noted that some of the fortifications were erected in the summer, within the timeframe set by the military command.
“After that, we, together with the military and the General Staff, developed a new defense system for the Zaporizhia region. Directly the defense of the regional center – and almost finished building the defense. This is a multi-layered defense not only of the city, but also of the nearest settlements, in order to make the region well fortified,” Fedorov said.

According to him, modern fortifications are significantly improved compared to those built earlier. First of all, we are talking about protection from enemy drones, because now the main threat is drones of various modifications.
Fortifications of the Kharkiv region: public outcry and contractors
The head of the region also recalled that this week the OVA handed over more than 800 units of equipment to the military, including: FPV drones and unmanned systems, cars and winter tires, charging stations, batteries and other equipment for winter conditions.
- Recently, the Cabinet of Ministers allocated more than UAH 200 million to strengthen fortifications in the Zaporizhia direction.
- In October, the government approved a draft law on the forced deprivation of land rights for the construction of fortifications. Such an opportunity will be provided for by the legal regime of martial law.
- In November, the Bureau of Economic Security reported that the budget lost UAH 300 million due to schemes involving the resale of barbed wire for fortifications. Military state administrations are forced to buy barrier lines at inflated prices from commercial enterprises, although they produce products of state institutions.
