The US Defense Cooperation Agency announced on its website that the State Department had granted consent to the sale of equipment for servicing F-16 fighters to Ukraine. For its part, the agency provided the relevant certification, as reported by Congress.
We are talking about mission planning systems, loaders, modifications, spare and repair parts, engineering services, documentation and other components to maintain the aircraft in working order. The total value of the deal is more than $266 million.
The agency noted that the sale “will not change the basic military balance in the region and does not require the appointment of a U.S. government representative in Ukraine or a contractor.”
