According to the Polish Ministry of Internal Affairs, refugees in the winter may be due to the destroyed infrastructure in Ukraine.

Deputy Head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Poland Wieslaw Lesniakiewicz spoke about the situation with Ukrainian refugees in Poland, Ukrinform reports.
Lesniakiewicz noted that in 2022 Poland was not fully prepared to receive a large number of Ukrainian refugees. However, ordinary citizens of the country and local governments played a significant role then. They accepted and helped accept and accommodate Ukrainian refugees.
“We are currently improving our plans, preparing for the possibility of another wave of refugees. It is not excluded, because winter is coming,” the deputy head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs said.

He added that critical infrastructure has been largely destroyed in Ukraine, so people are very often deprived of water, electricity and other basic amenities.
