A regional emergency has been declared in Sevastopol.
Volunteers collect fuel oil with shovels Over the past two days, 111.8 tons of soil contaminated with fuel oil as a result of the sinking of two Russian tankers in the Kerch Strait have been collected in Sevastopol, temporarily occupied by Russia.
This was reported by “Krym. Realii” with reference to the occupation administration.
In particular, on January 5, 84.5 tons of soil contaminated with fuel oil were removed, and on January 6, another 27.3 tons were collected.
42 birds suffered from oil products, which were handed over to veterinarians.

On December 15, it was reported that two tankers were sinking in the Kerch Strait – “Volgoneft 212” and “Volgoneft 239”. There were 13 and 14 people on board the tankers, respectively. Rescuers evacuated 13 crew members of the Volgoneft 212 tanker, but one of them died. The tankers were transporting fuel oil. An oil spill was recorded at sea.
