The Netherlands managed to freeze far fewer Russian assets than it reported a year ago

Two companies eliminated sanctioned owners to avoid seizure of funds.

The Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs has kept its promise from a year ago to freeze 660 million euros of Russian assets.

According to Ukrinform, the actual amount as of July 1, 2024, turned out to be six times less, and it later turned out that the rest of the money could no longer be seized due to changes in the ownership structure.

Two companies, whose names are not disclosed by the Dutch government, citing confidentiality, have managed to remove sanctioned persons from management. The Investment Assessment Bureau recognized them as not subject to the restrictions applied by the European Union to Russian capital.
