The hearing of the case of the murder of linguist and public figure Iryna Farion in the Shevchenkivskyi District Court of Lviv will continue on February 13. Presiding Judge Petro Nevoyt explained the length of the break by the workload of the panel members.

The daughter of the deceased, Sofia Litso, filed a lawsuit for moral damages in the amount of 15 million UAH.
“The funds that I should be paid will not return my mother to me. All funds will be sent to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, to the unit where my husband served,” she said.”
Before this, the court ruled to grant the motion of the defendant Vyacheslav Zinchenko's lawyers to provide him with additional protection when escorting him to and from court hearings. The lawyers explained this by the fact that their client was being threatened on social networks.
“We understand that he is not in any danger in the pretrial detention center. But the threat clearly stated: I will kill him the moment he leaves the paddy wagon,” explained defense attorney Yuriy Nemirovsky.
Earlier, on January 3, a preparatory hearing was held. Then the court extended Zinchenko's term of detention until March 4, 2025.

Iryna Farion was shot in Lviv on July 19 last year near her home. The woman died in the hospital. On July 21, law enforcement officers published a photo of the suspect.

“Investigation.info” reported that the detainee is 18-year-old student of the Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs Vyacheslav Zinchenko. According to journalists, he followed the page of a blogger who criticized Farion and spread conspiracy and neo-Nazi views. He arrived in Lviv by train, where he rented three apartments. “CIA and KGB instructions” and correspondence criticizing the “right” in Ukraine were found on his phone. Before the murder, the man disguised himself and wore different clothes.

On July 25, the suspect was detained in Dnipro. Zinchenko denied his guilt. He was sentenced to detention without bail.
- The investigation is considering several motives for the murder, including Farion's social and political activities and personal hostility. Investigators are also not ruling out a “Russian trace” in the murder.
