In Ukraine, ex-Yanukovych-era Interior Ministry officials who led titushki will be tried in absentia

The employees of the State Bureau of Investigation have sent to court an indictment in a criminal case against former internal affairs officers of Ukraine and the acting head of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Kiev during the time of Viktor Yanukovych – Vitaliy Zakharchenko and Valeriy Mazan.

This was reported by the press service of the State Bureau of Investigation.

It is noted that during the Revolution of Dignity in November 2013 – February 2014, they led the so-called “titushki” – mercenaries who were used by the Ukrainian authorities to participate in mass clashes.

“The completion of the investigation in this important criminal case is the finale of the investigation into the involvement of “titushki” in organizing violence during this period. The investigation has proven that officials of the Ministry of Internal Affairs involved mercenaries in illegal actions aimed at preventing peaceful protests,” the statement says.

Thus, according to the investigation, the said law enforcement officers organized:

These individuals face life imprisonment.

The State Bureau of Investigation noted that cases of illegal actions by “titushki” are already under consideration in the courts, and sentences have already been handed down for some of them.
