Tulsi Gabbard at the hearing “, during the Senate hearings to consider the nomination of Tulsi Gabbard for the post of Director of National Intelligence of the United States, the former National Guard servicewoman changed her position on Russia's war against Ukraine.

When asked about who is responsible for the aggression, Gabbard, who had previously repeated the theses of Russian propaganda about the fault of the United States, clearly stated that “Putin unleashed a war against Ukraine.” She also called the situation in the Russian Federation a “difficult environment,” and described Russia itself as a strategic competitor.

Senator Jerry Moran demanded assurances from Gabbard that “Russia will never live in her mind and heart.” In response, Donald Trump's ally said that she was offended by such assumptions and “is obligated only to our own nation, our own security, and the interests of the American people.”
