In the temporarily occupied territory of the Donetsk region, the situation with the disposal of solid municipal waste (SMS) is approaching its critical point.

This is reported by the Center for National Resistance.

“The reasons for the catastrophic state of the SMS are obvious; over the years of occupation, the waste disposal system has failed due to a complete lack of proper maintenance. The enemy has not only failed to maintain its normal functionality, but now completely ignores the problems that have arisen in this region,” the report says.

The National Resistance Center emphasizes that the situation is complicated by an acute shortage of personnel in public utilities, since a significant portion of workers were forcibly mobilized by the occupiers.

Also, in the temporarily occupied Donbass, there is no separate waste collection, there are not enough specialized waste recycling enterprises, and waste accumulates chaotically.

Thus, the occupiers created irreversible environmental consequences. And this, in turn, caused growing discontent among local residents.
