After a loud quarrel in the White House, some of Donald Trump's aides are insisting on the resignation of Volodymyr Zelensky as part of any possible agreement. As IZ reports with reference to Bloomberg, European leaders, despite their differences, support the continuation of negotiations between Trump and Zelensky. At the same time, Trump himself probably has a less tough position on this issue than his entourage.
At a summit in London, European leaders expressed broad support for Ukraine and urged Zelensky to return to negotiations. However, parts of the US administration insist on his resignation after the scandal. Europe is also working on a plan to deploy peacekeeping forces to Ukraine to ensure further cooperation between the parties.
Some Trump administration officials believe that Zelensky's resignation could be an important element of a new deal. At the same time, another part of the administration advocates continuing negotiations with Ukraine without such conditions. European countries are also discussing the possibility of increasing defense spending due to a possible US withdrawal from NATO commitments.
