Egg prices are rising again: how much does a dozen cost?

In Ukraine, egg prices, which began to decline in the winter, have started to rise again. In some supermarkets, a dozen eggs can be bought for 71–72 hryvnias. As IZ reports with reference to Channel 24, eggs of the “Kvochka” brand cost 71.10 hryvnias per dozen at Auchan, while eggs of “Yasensvit” cost from 64.20 to 72.30 hryvnias, depending on the chain. The cost also depends on the number of eggs in the package: for 18 pieces you will have to pay from 119.90 to 121.00 hryvnias.

In late autumn last year, egg prices jumped sharply due to the rise in the cost of feed and electricity. Then a dozen eggs cost 75–80 hryvnias. Later, after an investigation by the Antimonopoly Committee, the cost began to decline. In early 2025, egg prices stabilized at 40–50 hryvnias per dozen, but already in March there was a new jump in prices by 10–15 hryvnias.

The increase in egg prices is noticeable in various supermarket chains, such as Auchan, Novus, Megamarket and Metro. According to Channel 24, the cost of eggs depends not only on the brand, but also on the number of pieces in the package. For example, for 30 eggs in Metro you need to pay 199.90 hryvnias, while in Megamarket – 213.30 hryvnias. Experts attribute the increase in price to the increase in feed prices and seasonal demand.

Recall, we previously wrote that most EU countries are against allocating $20 billion to Ukraine.
