The government is working on abolishing the requirement to provide military documents when applying for passports for men who are abroad, writes IZ. The innovation should simplify obtaining documents for those whose passports are expiring. Mechanisms for implementing this decision are currently being considered, which will allow citizens to obtain new documents without hindrance.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Unity of Ukraine Oleksiy Chernyshov announced that passports abroad will be issued without military documents. This means that men who have left Ukraine will be able to renew their documents without a mandatory check of military status. The government emphasizes that work on this issue is ongoing, and an official decision will be presented soon.
The issue of issuing passports to Ukrainians abroad was previously resolved: men aged 18-60 who submitted documents by April 25, 2024 through the State Enterprise “Dokument” were able to start receiving manufactured passports from February 17.
