The scientific community has criticized Microsoft for questionable claims about the Majorana 1 quantum chip. As IZ reports with reference to Nature, scientist Serhiy Frolov, who has Ukrainian roots, said that the company is using unreliable data to confirm the existence of Majorana fermions. These particles have not yet been recorded by any researcher, which calls into question the scientific credibility of the project.
Microsoft has announced a breakthrough in quantum computing, claiming to have created the world's first topological conductor for scalable qubits. However, critics say the company used unproven testing methods and its scientific journal publications contain significant inaccuracies. Microsoft's previous attempt to demonstrate Majorana particles in 2018 also failed, raising further suspicions.
The company is expected to provide official explanations during the American Physical Society (APS) conference, which starts on March 16. At the same time, independent experts note that even if Microsoft presents new data, this will not change the facts regarding the lack of confirmed evidence for the existence of Majorana particles.
