Without taking the oath in Crimea. What do we know about Andriy Gnatov, who is a great supporter of the General Staff

The President of Ukraine replaced the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. For this reason, Lieutenant General Anatoly Bargilevich, who was appointed Inspector General of the Ministry of Defense, was imprisoned.

Minister of Defense of Ukraine Rustem Umerov noted that Gnatov, who served 27 years of military service, previously commanded a naval infantry brigade, troops of the operational command “Skhid” and the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces Ukraine.

The General Staff was informed that the new Chief of the General Staff has abandoned the task of promoting the effectiveness of the management of the vertical of the Armed Forces, focusing on the process of reorganization and improvement of the corps structure. In addition, he will have to integrate combat intelligence with military planning and control.

What do you know about Gnatov?

It appears that Andriy Gnatov was born in Ukraine and received military education at the Kharkov Institute of Tank Forces. He began his service with the naval infantry battalion, which was based in Crimea.

After the occupation of the island by Russia, he did not take the oath and moved to the mainland of Ukraine, continuing his military career.

In 2016, he became the chief of staff of the 36th detached naval infantry brigade, and two years later he retired. Gnatov commanded the brigade until 2021. During the ATO and Joint Forces Operation period, he actively took part in the fight against Russian aggression.

With the beginning of a full-scale invasion of Russia in 2022, the Gnat family defeated the grouped troops of the Primorye region and played a key role in fighting off Russian attacks on the day of Ukraine. As a result of this strategy, Ukrainian forces were able to regain control over several settlements in the Kherson region and stop the enemy’s advance.

In June 2022, for his achievements in defense operations, he was stripped of the rank of brigadier general.

For his service, Gnatov was awarded the Order of Bohdan Khmelnitsky, the Cross of Military Merit and other sovereign awards.

Respectfully, at the end of the day, Zelensky informed that the commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Andriy Gnatov will move to the General Staff.

And more than two years ago, the head of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Rustem Umerov, recognized Major General Andriy Gnatov as the intercessor of the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
