Stuck on the ISS, the astronauts turned to Earth

On Wednesday, February 19th, the astronauts stuck on the International Space Station (ISS) returned to Earth. Their capsule landed on the shores of Florida.

This is reported by RBC-Ukraine via CNN.

“The SpaceX Crew Dragon capsule with NASA astronauts Butch Willmore and Suni Williams landed on the shores of Florida shortly before 18:00 (before 01:00 in Kiev – ed.). The splashdown marks the end of the trival “I've been blowing in space for nine thousand years,” writes CNN.

In recent news, it was written that after landing, the ritualists began to soak the SpaceX capsule with fresh water. This is the name of the “fresh bath”, intended to remove more salt water.

“Salt water causes corrosion, and we want to try and apply more salt water to change the corrosion on metal structures,” Kate Tice told SpaceX.

It means that when the capsule is docked to the ISS, astronauts enter and exit through the upper hatch, which connects to the station module. After landing or splashdown, to exit to Earth, open the hatch itself. It is opened first after turning from orbit, which symbolizes the completion of the mission. According to CNN, the astronauts are first breathing in the fresh air, and the ritual teams are checking their camp, preparing for the disembarkation of four passengers.

As reported by CNN, the astronauts who returned to Earth – Butch Willmore, Suni Williams, Nick Geig and Russian cosmonaut Oleksandr Gorbunov – left the ship carrying their burdens. This is the most important approach that SpaceX will ever experience as astronauts travel from thousands of miles into space.

According to CNN, the astronauts have already removed the capsules.

What was blowing?

It is significant that Nick Geig from NASA and Russian cosmonaut Oleksandr Gorbunov have been in space since the spring of 2024. Ale Butch Wilmore and Sunya Williams from NASA were richer every day: their rise in price began in the dark past. It was understood that the trip would continue for just over a week, but it would extend to more than nine months on the ISS after problems with its Boeing Starliner capsule plagued the Swedish return home.
