Chrysanthemum, as an educated young man, found the truth in the Gospel and converted to Christianity. His parents did not approve of this choice and tried to turn him back to paganism, even marrying him to the beautiful Daria. However, instead of turning her husband away from the faith, Daria herself converted to Christianity. The couple decided to live as monks, founding communities of believers.
When the persecution of Christians began, Chrysanthemum and Darius were captured, tortured, and executed. Their feat inspired many Romans to become Christians.
