On the night of March 18-19, Ukraine was again hit by Russian Shahed suicide drones. According to local authorities, the attacks were directed at several regions, including Donetsk, Kyiv, Zhytomyr, Sumy, Chernihiv, Poltava, Kharkiv, Kirovohrad, Dnipropetrovsk, and Cherkasy regions. All of these regions were affected by the bombings, and the consequences of the shelling are being eliminated on the ground. IZ writes this with reference to Yigal Levin.
One of the most serious cases was a direct hit by a drone on a hospital in Sumy. This is not the first time that Russia has targeted medical facilities, which is a clear indication of the aggressor’s deliberate attempt to destroy civilian infrastructure. This approach is part of a strategy aimed at undermining the morale of Ukrainians and weakening support for the government among the population.
At the same time, analysts note that the Kremlin's main goal is not just a ceasefire, but the surrender of Ukraine. Russia continues to try to force Kyiv to make concessions in the negotiations, setting conditions that include limiting Ukraine's military capabilities. At the same time, the situation on the front indicates that the Ukrainian army remains a strong and determined opponent, ready for further battles.
The US and its European allies have repeatedly stressed that Russia will not be able to win this conflict, even if it drags out negotiations. They emphasize that Russia's strategic goal is precisely further escalation, not a peaceful resolution of the conflict. Therefore, it is important for Ukraine to remain firm in its position, not to compromise on its defense capabilities and independence.
Western countries continue to support Ukraine, but it is important to remember that their support, while powerful, does not always lead to radical changes on the front. It is vital for Ukraine to continue to build up its defense capabilities, consolidate its positions, and, most importantly, resist Russian demands for military force limitations or mobilization.
We remind you that we previously wrote that Ukrainian forces had partially left the Kursk region.
