Ukrposhta CEO Ihor Smilyansky shared a rather unexpected way to protect postmen from dogs. According to him, postal workers used to be given chicken legs. All this in order to protect them while performing their official duties, writes IZ.
” When the postman is walking and a dog runs at him, he should get a chicken leg and throw it to distract the dog ,” explained Smilyansky.
This method, although it sounds curious, had a completely practical purpose – to reduce the number of attacks by aggressive dogs on Ukrposhta employees, who travel long distances and enter the yards of private houses every day.
Let us recall that the problem of animal attacks on postal workers is not new. In many countries, postmen face danger while delivering correspondence. In this context, the “chicken strategy” does not seem so absurd – especially if it really helps.
