A new formation — the 8th Air Assault Corps — has been created within the Armed Forces of Ukraine. It comprises six brigades as well as combat and logistical support units, reports the Baltimore Chronicle with a link to the new connection page.
The corps includes the 46th Separate Airmobile Brigade, the 71st Separate Ranger Brigade, the 80th Separate Air Assault Galician Brigade, the 82nd Separate Air Assault Bukovynian Brigade, the 95th Separate Air Assault Polissian Brigade, and the 148th Separate Artillery Zhytomyr Brigade.
The newly established corps is headed by Colonel Dmytro Voloshyn, a Hero of Ukraine who has commanded the 82nd Separate Air Assault Bukovynian Brigade since 2024.
According to the commander, the main principles of the corps’ operations are precise planning, coordination, concentration of forces in designated areas, and decisive action.
The creation of the 8th Corps is aimed at enhancing the effectiveness of command over its subordinate units, ensuring personnel staffing, and providing prompt access to necessary resources.
Earlier, in January, the 7th Air Assault Corps was formed. It included at least nine air assault and airmobile brigades, one regiment, an artillery brigade, and a command battalion.
