Former U.S. President Donald Trump does not rule out the possibility of revising his position on Ukraine in light of recent actions by Russia, particularly after a massive missile strike on Kyiv, reports the Baltimore Chronicle, citing The Atlantic.

In an interview with The Atlantic, Trump stated that certain steps taken by Russian President Vladimir Putin could force him to side with Ukraine, although not necessarily with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

During a conversation with The Atlantic editor-in-chief Jeffrey Goldberg, Trump emphasized that he has a complicated relationship with Zelenskyy, referring to their meeting at the White House on February 28. At the same time, he acknowledged that he might support Ukraine if Putin’s actions require it.

When asked about the possibility of providing Ukraine with additional military aid, Trump responded that support does not necessarily have to come in the form of weapons. He noted that there are other forms of pressure, such as sanctions and financial mechanisms, that could be effective.

Trump also again mentioned U.S. expenditures on aid to Ukraine, claiming that America has spent $350 billion, while European countries have contributed significantly less. He emphasized that he does not want to be associated with this war, calling it “Biden’s war,” and added that it should never have started.

After the missile attack on Kyiv on April 24, which killed 12 people, Trump expressed doubts about Putin’s sincerity in seeking peace. On social media, he wrote that Russia had no justification for striking the Ukrainian capital and suggested that Putin might be misleading him, having no real intention of ending the war.
