Ukrainian Ambassador to the UN: Russia hits Odessa to stop the grain corridor

UN Security Council at a meeting in New York, discussed the issue of Russian strikes on civilian targets in Odessa.

According to Ukrinform, the Permanent Representative of Ukraine Sergei Kislitsa said in his speech that the occupiers are targeting the city through attempts to interfere with the work of the Ukrainian grain corridor.

The diplomat cited data according to which, since August 2023, almost 30 million tons of cargo have been exported from three Black Sea ports – Odessa, Yuzhny and Chernomorsk, of which 80% are agricultural products. Ukrainian grains went to 42 countries around the world. In February alone, the state managed to export 8 million tons by sea. And this means that the volume of exports is approaching the level that we had at the beginning of the full-scale invasion.

“The Russian fleet, whose numbers are constantly declining, does not dare appear in the northwestern part of the Black Sea and is not capable of blocking the Ukrainian ports. All that remains for Russia is to launch missiles, trying to intimidate Ukraine and its trading partners,” Kislitsa told the Security Council.

  • The speech of Polish Foreign Minister Sikorski “defeated” the Russians at the UN Security Council.
  • Chairman of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry Dmitry Kuleba called for Russia to be removed from the Security Council, where it has no place.
