The U.S. Department of Defense is carrying out a comprehensive analysis and reassessment of its strategy for providing military aid to Ukraine in order to ensure its consistency with the current defense priorities of the United States. This was stated by Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell during a briefing, reports the Baltimore Chronicle with reference to Suspilne.
Parnell emphasized that the Department is working to achieve the strategic goal of ending the war while preserving the combat capability of the U.S. Armed Forces. The reassessment of aid policy is intended to ensure that military assistance aligns with the long-term security interests of the United States.
According to him, the exact amount and types of weapons transferred to Ukraine, as well as the timing of such deliveries, will not be disclosed. Meanwhile, the Secretary of Defense will continue to provide President Donald Trump with recommendations to support decision-making regarding further military assistance to Ukraine.
Parnell also noted that the ongoing review includes evaluating which specific munitions are being sent and where they are going. However, he did not specify what particular weapons are under review, when the reassessment will be completed, or whether these changes would affect military aid to other countries.
It is noted that the United States also supplies military equipment to Israel and Taiwan.
